Serial Story: The Crucifixion – 15th March

The Crucifixion

As they were going out from Jerusalem, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry Jesus’s cross.

They arrived at Golgotha, which means the place of the skull and offered Jesus wine mixed with gall to drink but, after tasting it, he refused to drink it.

Placing Jesus between two criminals, they nailed him to a cross and fixed the written charge against him above his head. Many of the Jews read this sign for the place where he was crucified was near the city and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek.

They then sat down to keep watch over him and divided up his clothes by casting lots.

One of the criminals who was hanging alongside Jesus taunted him saying, “If you are the messiah, save us all”, but the other man rebuked him, saying, ‘Do you not fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? We are here because we are guilty, we are condemned because of our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong.’

Then he said to Jesus, ‘Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.’ And Jesus

said to him, ‘Truly, I say to you today, you will be with me in paradise’.
